Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Wins Gold Medal for its IITF Pavilion

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India’s pavilion at Pragati Maidan has been awarded with Gold Medal among the Central Government pavilions for excellence in display in the India International Trade Fair – 2008 held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi during November 14-27, 2008.

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Power, Shri Jairam Ramesh awarded the Gold Medal and Certificate of excellence to Ministry of Health & Family Welfare at a function organized by India Trade Promotion Organisation today. A jury of ITPO had adjudged the pavilion best in all after considering the contents, display and quality of the exhibition put up by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India puts up its exhibition on Health & Family Welfare issues at the Health Pavilion every year. This year the exhibition was titled “Healthy India, Wealthy India”. The Ministry also has provided facilities like free health check up, separate counseling for male and female on issues like family planning and STD etc., free eye check up, blood group check up homoeopathy counseling, unani counseling, ayurveda counseling etc. in the pavilion.

The Ministry attempted to place emphasis on the alarming disease of HIV/AIDS. Free counseling and HIV tests were provided. In its attempt to achieve the goal of population stabilization, the Ministry offered free family planning counseling at the pavilion. Male sterilization through Non-Scalpel Vasectomy were done at the pavilion with cash incentive of Rs. 1100/- for each vasectomy. Several NGO’s and other Divisions of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, International organisations like UNICEF has also took part in the exhibition. The cultural programmes organized in front of the pavilion attracted for the people from all walks of life.
