Attributing modern medicine’s popularity to its scientific validation, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Anbumani Ramadoss today said the government would spend Rs 120 crore for a similar purpose for Indian medicine to popularise it globally.

“Though Allopathy (modern medicine) has evolved as a successful medicinal system only in the last 150 years, it was mainly due to its scientific validation. The Centre has now initiated efforts to scientifically validate Indian medicine systems like Ayurveda and Siddha,” he said.

He added that yoga was also a billion dollar industry which the whole world is awakening to and the government plans to make it mandatory in schools.

fist of all, i thank to union health minister dr.a.ramadoss for that he gave an opportunity to the whole world of ayurveda to improve it.and people of the whole world can get benefit through this amazing contributions. thanks

  2. I agree that Allopathy is most widely accepted medical system in india but the reason for this is step motherly treatment of Successive govts towards Ayurveda and its people. Out of 16000 cr budget for health AYUSH (Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy and naturopathy with Yoga)gets less than 1000 cr. Compare the condition of a medical college and an Ayurveda college of any state and you dont need to be a doctor to understand the cause of downfall of AYURVEDA.
The best way to uplift Ayurveda is to ensure equal facilities and opportunities to Ayurveda graduates. Before this Govt. must curb mushrooming of sub standard Ayurveda colleges which are producing half cooked docotrs who prefer to use modern medicine than Ayurveda.

As rightly said that less amount is spent on ayurveda and other alternative health system. The reason behind less expenditure by the government on ayurveda and other alternative medicines is that ayurveda is still not considered as a science, if all the ayurveda graduate get together and give a memorandum to the government than the amendments can be done and ayurveda will get the status of a science and as per the law ayurveda should get equal status and expenditure like the allopath system of medicine which is already considered a science.
You would not believe that even other faculty like chemistry and physics get more amount than the ayurveda as per the quota.
I read one of the dr praising the health minister about providing 120 cr for ayurveda, i appreciate the steps taken by the health minister but we cannot stop here and say this is sufficient.we have to altogether change our mentality and attitude and demand for bigger sum to be spent on ayurveda and other alternative system, you get only when you demand.
