Dr Raman Singh releases book on Ayurveda

Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Dr Raman Singh released ayurvedic book by well known doctor Mukesh Jain in which simple treatment of serious ailments are presented. The book under the title “Fight & Win Ailments of Modern Era with Ayurvedic Treatment” is based on latest scientific research in Ayurveda.

Chhattisgarh: Focusing that Ayurveda is effective in the prevention of serious ailments; Dr Raman Singh said Ayurveda is now posed to be a global movement. The recent book by Dr Mukesh Jain will be distributed among the Western community and media during International Ayurvedic events scheduled in Chicago (US) and Burstein (Germany). Dr Jain has been invited to attend these functions.

Forwarded by Padma Shri Prof. Dr. Mahadev Pandey, the book contains  authentic information on how to discover simple treatment and enhance our body immunity against Arthritis, Sciatica, Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Thyroid,  Migraine, Parkinson’s, Obesity, Neuro-Muscular weakness and to prevent Cancer & HIV infection.

Congratulating the author BR Jain, Industrialist from Bhilai said there are many diseases which are chronic and there are no remedies in Allopathic Medicine. Ayurveda is a solution for such illnesses because Ayurveda treatment is done for the root cause of the problem. It is note worthy that Dr Mukesh Jain is well known practitioner of Ayurveda and Panch Karma. He has taken ayurvedic research work and imparted instructions to various citizen forums in 6 countries in Asia and Europe. He has also introduced holistic health camps for making common people aware about various health problems.

Piramal group launches project to fight chronic diseases

Mumbai (PTI): Aiming to provide affordable medicines in rural areas and to combat chronic diseases in the country, Pharma major Piramal Group in collaboration with ASSOCHAM and various NGOs launched a project here on Saturday.

The Programme ‘help-your-body’, inaugurated by former President APJ Abdul Kalam, will emphasis on imparting knowledge on healthy food for healthy body and target each and every individual.

“Genetic causes, obesity, stress, inappropriate dietary habits and lack of exercise play a major role in causing chronic ailments,” Swati Piramal, Piramal Group’s Director said.

According to a WHO report, 38.8 core people will die in the next ten years due to chronic diseases and a significant proportion would be from India.

“India is expected to be the chronic disease capital with over 70 million diabetics, 213 million hypertensive patients and 60 million with arthritis by 2025. We feel the government, the private sector, the medical fraternity, NGOs should come together against the onslaught of chronic diseases,” Piramal said.

Kalam suggested that the group should integrate various systems of medicine such as Allopathy, Ayurveda, homeopathy, Unani, Siddha and yoga available in the country to fight chronic ailments at an affordable cost.

Dabur India, today announced the national roll-out of ChyawanPrakash, a sugar-free variant of Chyawanprash. The variant is targeted at the calorie-conscious consumers.

Himalaya launches health care products in Israel

Indian pharmaceutical giant Himalaya Drug Company has launched a range of its personal health care products in Israel to further expand its reach abroad and encash on the growing ayurvedic market.

“It is a matter of pride to bring Ayurveda, which is 5,000 years old, contemporising it technologically. Synergy between Ayurveda and modern medicine is evolving and has already attracted the attention of people across the globe”, Ravi Prasad, President and CEO of Himalaya Drug Company said.

Israel is the 65th country apart from India where Himalaya now has a presence, he said at a ceremony organised to mark the opening of its first showroom in Tel Aviv.

India’s Ambassador to Israel, Arun Kumar Singh, said the launch of Himalaya’s products is yet another addition to the recent trend where Indian companies have started to invest in Israel.

“Himalaya is bringing with it thousands of years of traditional wisdom and knowledge. It will add further to the strengthening ties between the two countries and boost bilateral trade”, Singh said.

The company’s products will be distributed in Israel by a local partner, Hollander Nussbaum Ltd, a textile agency which is quite active in India.

Dabur extends into malted food market

Dabur India is planning to test the waters in the malted beverages market with its new offering – Chyawan Junior, after the success and popularity of its Chyawanprash brand.

KK Rajesh, Executive V-P, Dabur India, said, “We are first test launching the product in West Bengal and Maharashtra. Our product is primarily targeted at kids aged between 5 to 12 years.”

The market is growing at a rate of 10 to 15 per cent per annum and could well touch the Rs 2000-crore mark by 2010, according to some estimates, he said. “We are looking at a market share of 5 to 7 per cent in the next two-three years. The test-marketing exercise in Maharashtra and West Bengal will continue for six to nine months,” added Rajesh.

The company is also embarking on a 360-degree campaign and the first television commercial will be on air by October 23. It will also conduct sampling exercises in over 100 schools. Creative agency McCann Erickson will develop communications for Chyawan Junior.

The size of malted food drinks market is an estimated Rs 1,600 crore, according to Anand Shah, a FMCG analyst with Angel Broking.

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare has a lion’s share of the market, with over 70 per cent shared by its two brands Horlicks and Boost.
