Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: A bill to establish, operate and control the ayurvedic health centres in Kerala state was referred to the subject committee by the Assembly.

The Kerala Ayurveda Health Centres (Issue of License and Control) Bill, 2007, was presented by Health Minister P K Sreemathi in the House on Thursday.

The bill is intended to check the exploitation in the ayurvedic health centres especially in the tourist centres, in various names. It has been found that a number of such centres are having no basic facilities for proper ayurvedic system of treatment or trained and experienced physicians.

After the commencement of the Act the existing health centres shall obtain license within six months.
