This high-level summit will bring together founders, presidents, CEOs and senior managers of leading companies to discuss and debate the key issues the cosmetics industry faces in the areas of natural & organic products and sustainability.High on the agenda for Natural Beauty Summit America is natural & organic standards. CET for Professional Cources on April 19

Bangalore, April 10: For all those aspirants of a seat in a professional college, the Common Entrance Test (CET) for 2008 is on April 19. About 1.13 lakh students will appear for the one day CET.

This year, the CET for admission to the first year of engineering, architecture, medical, dental, ayurveda, unani, homoeopathy, naturopathy and yoga courses, Indian Systems of Medicine and homoeopathy and engineering technology courses will be a one day affair conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).

For the first time ever, the KEA will conduct the CET since its conception as an autonomous examination authority - Karnataka Examination Authority.

Dengue Cure discovered in Ayurveda

A recent research done by scholars of Burdwan University in the suburbs of Kolkata has shown that the berries of a wild weed used in Ayurvedic formulation can help to eradicate mosquitoes spreading dengue and act as a resistant to synthetic insecticide. The weed which helps in eradicating dengue is known as Solanum villosum which a member of the family of nightshade possessing medical properties and are used as Ayurvedic herbs.

About two fifth of the total population of the world is now at risk from dengue which is characterized by high fever, pain and rashes. Dengue haemorrhagic fever is the most complicated type which most likely affects children. In the recent years there have been quite a few deaths in Kolkata because of this disease. With this path breaking discovery a cure for Dengue is likely to be found soon.

This research has been carried out in the University of Burdwan where the juice from the berries have been extracted and used on the mosquitoes spreading yellow fever and dengue. The researchers have found out that the extracts of this weed is highly effective in killing the larvae of S.aegypti responsible for spreading dengue. The researchers claimed that the extracts of this weed is not as strong as Malathion but it has the capability to kill the mosquitoes of stagnant water.

Dabur eyes rural areas for baby care market

AyurvedNews.Com, April 1, 2008: Dabur India is relying on the country`s rural and semi-urban areas for growth in the baby care segment, reports Business Standard.

The rural and semi-urban areas accounts for nearly 60% of the company`s sales in the segment and continues to grow at a much rapid pace than urban India. Dabur has three products in its portfolio, including the flagship Dabur Lal Tel, which has an overall market share of over 25%.

The company is especially looking at the digestives and massage categories in the baby care segment for growth, since it has a market pie of over 23%. The baby care market, which is estimated at Rs 15 billion comprising both branded and unbranded segments, is growing at almost 17% annually.
